Leadership Experiences

The National Society of Leadership and Success

My first year at UCCS I was invited to join The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). The NSLS connected me with other classmates to learn leadership skills. We went to multiple meetings in auditoriums on campus, observed presentations from famous leaders, and worked on assignments as a team. The one thing that really stood out to me was to create a vision of where I want to go in life along with goals on how to get there. I still to this day make a list of three goals for the week or every day to accomplish. I earned my NSLS certificate in December 2020.

Student Teaching Assistant (TA)

I worked as a TA for the class Experiences in Leadership, taught by, Dr. Dustin J. Bluhm PhD. As someone with a passion for leadership, I did exceptionally well in his class and was offered a chance to TA. This allowed me to continue studying the material and reinforce the information over two additional semesters. The job required me to read journal entries of thirty to sixty classmates a week, post grades, and forward any questions on to Dr. Bluhm. What an opportunity this was to not only review the material, but to also learn from my fellow classmates’ perspectives every week.
